As we count down to the One World Media Awards 2019 it occurred to us that our longlisted entries present an excellent set of playlists to catch up on the past year of underreported stories. This week’s playlist comes from our Short Film longlist.

There has been an explosion in short docs in recent years. With more ways to watch and share shorts, it is a growing field of creative media. But it’s a skill in itself to tell a creative story in short format that grabs our attention and still tells a complete narrative.

Here you’ll find short films that do exactly that with stories, topics or issues in, about or related to the developing world. From ballet dancers to human rights activists, in this edition you’ll see the unique style of the filmmakers and platforms bringing us these stories.
