Pitching your story to funders, commissioners, festivals or media platforms is no easy task, but it’s something every successful journalist and filmmaker needs to learn to do.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
This workshop focuses on the importance of writing in communicating your idea, and provides guidelines to writing and pitching effective proposals and synopses. Developing the proposal for a story helps filmmakers and journalists explore the narrative and characters, and clarify exactly what they want to achieve in their piece. The developed proposal then becomes an essential promotional and selling tool, paving the way for funders, distributors, platforms and audiences to engage with and support the piece.
Executive Producer Dominique Young will guide you through this intensive workshop where you will learn how to write and pitch your proposals, and gain invaluable insights into how commissioners work with filmmakers and journalists over the course of a production.
THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU IF…
1) You are an emerging journalist or documentary filmmaker who wants to learn to pitch your stories to commissioners, media outlets, festivals or funders.
2) You are an experienced journalist or documentary filmmaker but have had limited success with pitching your ideas and want to improve your skills.
3) You are looking to develop a specific pitch or proposal with the support of an expert and peers.
